Congratulations to all our coaches, managers and players who competed with class in the recent Golden Boy Tournament. Our teams gave a very significant accounting of themselves and credit is due to the players and the coaching staffs of each team.
For the record: Portage Trail Soccer Club teams took home 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 4 Consolation Trophies.
It must be noted these are the best results for PTSC ever. These results are extremely encouraging auger very well for the future.

The Executive Committee joins me in congratulating each and every one of you for a job  well done.

2005 GOLDEN BOY TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS
PORTAGE TRAIL STRIKERS - U12 BOYS

The Portage Trail Strikers found themselves facing wild prairie summer weather, and their top league rivals, SEU (Zachonowich) in the 2005 Golden Boy U12 Division Cup final.

Spectators were treated to a thrilling, neck-in-neck game.  When the final whistle shrilled, the numbers read 2 to 1 for the blue and white.  Tournament MVP, Dane Douglas, scored the first goal in the opening half.  Tyler Dusanek, the top scorer in the tournament with 8 goals, fired the winning blast to clinch the tournament title for the Strikers.

Battered Blazers get Silver at Golden Boy Tournament
The team of 15 players was reduced to 12 healthy players due to injuries and graduation ceremonies even before the opening whistle. With the help of tape, ice, heat rub, Advil, and a whole lot of determination, the Portage Trail Blazers finished first in their division after round robin with a record of 2 wins and 1 tie.  They edged out the Flames 2P in the semi-final and went on to face Northern Lights 2P in the finals.
The players gave all they had but mounting injuries and heat related fatigue proved to be too much and they lost the final game to Northern Lights.
The BLAZERS coaching staff are extremely proud of this team who showed true grit and fortitude in the face of adverse conditions.
Corlana Dueck (front row second from the right) was selected as one of two tournament All Stars for the girls U18 group. Corlana scored 11 goals in the five games we played. This is a perfect illustration of Corlana’s tenacious work ethic and the support her team-mates provided her so she can raise her level of play to this lofty standard.
Please join us in congratulating this amazing group of athletes.

PTSC Raiders
Every coach tells their team in a championship game to give it your all and leave it on the field and that was just what the PTSC Raiders did. In a game where the Raiders got a two goal lead, with SEU fighting back hard and closed within one goal with 10 mins left to in the game. With every ounce of energy Raiders tried to fight off the SEU attack, the clock seem to take for ever to run out and with less then one minute to play SEU finally wore down the Raiders and tied the game. The two 10 minute overtime halves only proved that both team were determined to win the game. Unfortunately, in the end it came down to that dreadful shootout which all players, coaches and parents hate. After a very hard fought game Raiders were unable to triumph but they gave it their all.
